Description

Embark on a journey through the intricate wonders of human anatomy with our comprehensive course, Anatomy Foundations. Delve deep into the structure and function of the human body as you master anatomical terminology to describe precise locations, movements, and relationships within. Discover the significance of sagittal, frontal, and transverse planes in analyzing movement, unlocking the secrets to how our bodies articulate and function.

Gain a profound understanding of bones—from their structural composition to their diverse classifications and pivotal roles within the skeletal system. Explore the complex terminology that defines movements of both the axial and appendicular skeletons, unraveling the mechanics behind every nod, twist, and stride.

Delve into the intricate world of muscles, investigating their structure, diverse functions, and classifications. Understand the critical roles of tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves in supporting and enabling movement and stability.

Focus on enhancing core stability muscles and dissect the anatomy and function of trunk and limb muscles crucial for maintaining posture, stability, and locomotion. Engage with interactive knowledge checks and practical exercises that reinforce your learning, empowering you to apply newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios.

Whether you're a student, a Pilates instructor, fitness enthusiast, healthcare professional, or simply curious about the inner workings of the human body, our 'Anatomy Foundations' offers a stimulating exploration that will deepen your understanding and appreciation of human anatomy. Unlock the mysteries of the body's architecture and equip yourself with essential knowledge to navigate its complexities confidently.

All students who successfully complete the course including the final exam will be eligible for SPRING. Movement's Certificate of Completion. This also fullfils the anatomy prerequisite for our Mat Pilates Certification.

Objectives

Students who successfully complete this course will:

  • Master Anatomical Terminology: Understand and apply fundamental anatomical terms to describe locations, movements, and relationships within the human body.

  • Comprehend Planes of Movement: Identify and differentiate between sagittal, frontal, and transverse planes, and their significance in anatomical analysis and movement.

  • Explore Bones: Functions, Types, & Joints: Gain a comprehensive understanding of bone structure, classifications, functions, and the various types of joints found in the human skeleton.

  • Understand Movement Terminology of the Axial Skeleton: Learn terminology specific to movements of the skull, vertebral column, and thoracic cage.

  • Understand Movement Terminology of the Appendicular Skeleton: Explore terminology related to movements of the upper and lower limbs.

  • Study Muscles: Investigate the structure, function, and classification of muscles in the human body, including their role in movement and stability.

  • Examine Tendons, Ligaments, Fascia, & Nerves: Understand the roles of tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves in supporting and facilitating movement and stability.

  • Focus on Axial Skeleton and Core Stability Muscles: Identify and strengthen core stability muscles associated with the axial skeleton, crucial for posture and support.

  • Analyze Trunk Muscles: Explore the anatomy and function of muscles in the trunk region, essential for maintaining spinal stability and enabling trunk movements.

  • Study Appendicular Skeleton | Lower Limb: Examine the anatomy of the lower limb, including bones, joints, and muscles involved in locomotion and support.

  • Study Appendicular Skeleton | Upper Limb: Explore the anatomy of the upper limb, including bones, joints, and muscles responsible for arm and hand movements.

  • Complete Knowledge Checks: Assess understanding through four knowledge checks distributed throughout the course, reinforcing key concepts and terminology.

  • Engage in Practical Exercises: Apply theoretical knowledge through three practical exercises designed to reinforce understanding of anatomical concepts and terminology in real-world scenarios.

I absolutely loved this anatomy class. I feel invigorated and prepared. The lessons were very well done, clear and enjoyable. I actually made flash cards and purchased coloring books to keep my mind sharp and would go on daily walks with my cards first thing in the morning to refresh my memory. Really loved it and am excited for the Mat Certification to begin!
